Super Bowl XLII: Who is more likely to win?

The long NFL season is over and now there are only two teams left. And they are headed for a clash on February 3 to finally decide who will be the Super Bowl 2007 Champions. On one corner, it's the New England Patriots. On the other stands New York Giants. Come the championship day, only one team will be left standing. Who will it be?

This year's Super Bowl championship game will be all about football's basics. The team that will run faster, pass better, use exceptional defense strategies, and follow their leader's intelligent coaching is more likely to win.

The running game is New York's forte. It is their ultimate advantage against New England. Brandon Jacobs is popular for his touchdowns during the post-season games. Ahmad Bradshaw, the Giant's jittery rookie is also expected to contribute and pump up eve more New York's high-energy game. The patriots can run, but they won't be as good as the Giants, unless they had specifically added that into their game plan.

When it comes to passing, Patriot superstar Tom Brady is the expert. His favorite targets, Wes Welker and Randy Moss are almost always there to deliver. However, Brady does not limit his passing prowess to these two guys alone. In the previous games, we saw how the other players stepped up to deliver his passes. 'Mr. Consistency' Kevin Faulk, Jabar Gaffney, and Ben Watson are expected to make Brady's passes all worth it.

Tom Brady's passing prowess will be tested up against Giant's Eli Manning. Brady's QB stats are 117.2 to Manning's 73.9. If the numbers are all that matter, it's easy to see that New England's passing will be better than New York's. The Patriots would definitely capitalize on that advantage.

In football, defense is everything. A good defensive stunt could take you to the championship. Just look at these two teams competing for the title. New England's defense men maybe an aging crew, but they definitely knew how to play the game. Their bodies might not be as strong and young as the Giant's, but their minds are far richer. Sometimes, quick thinking is better than tough muscles.

When the Giants start to pressure Patriot's quarterbacks, that's when the real game begins. If New England can devise a strategy that would overcome the Giant's patent pressure game, they could win in this area. As for New York, they've got to think of new quarterback pressuring strategies. The old ones the Patriot might have prepared for. But a few surprises on their attack would definitely leave them stunned.

The battle of two coaches will be a fascinating watch as well. Tom Coughlin will be up against Bill Belichick. Coughlin's record is an exceptional 103-89-0 during the regular season. On playoff, he's got 7-6 on his card. However, Belichick fairs better than him with 127-81-0. During playoffs, his scorecard is 15-3. And when it comes to Super Bowl titles, Belichick has got three of them under his sleeve. Coughlin is yet to have one he can call his own. But then again, one cannot just eliminate the will of the hungrier coach.
